RPM at 4-7000 in park 👀 89 Camaro 305 (Please Help)

How’s it going? I’m new and a beginner as far as DIY mechanics.

Car:
1989 Camaro 305
45k miles, been sitting idk how long

Issue:
1. Car at High RPM in park and neutral (4k+)
2. Car accelerates with a 1:3k rpm , Rpm drops in drive.
3.

What I’ve changed:
1. TBI gasket
2. IAC valve
3. Removed and cleaned the throttle body
4. Vacuum lines

- Questions, does a IAC valve need to be recalibrated or reset?

As of today lowest rpm is 2500+

Noticed:
1. I noticed that the coolant temperature sensor is broken
2. Oil pressure gauge is maxed out but isn’t fluctuation. maybe broken. Not sure how it might correlate.

- Question, Can coolant temp sensor being detached and broken enough to threw off rpm?

When working on a computer-controlled vehicle, a scan tool is as essential as screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, sockets and the Genuine GM service manual for your vehicle. If you can't communicate with the computer(s), you're "flying blind".

Connect scan tool, check for current, history, and pending codes. Write 'em all down.
Fix the coolant temp sensor.
Disconnect battery for 30 seconds to clear all codes.
Trace wiring to oil pressure sensor, verify wire harness integrity, assure the harness is securely attached to oil pressure sending unit. (Wire harness is likely grounded, but there are other possibilities.)
Drive vehicle, see what symptoms and codes come back after ~50 miles. Follow the service manual diagnostic procedure for any codes found on the second scan, ignore any codes from the first scan that don't repeat after being cleared.
