89 305 tbi
Hey everyone I’m new here my buddy bought a 1989 throttle bodied 305 that was for sure owned by a kid who had no clue and started tearing stuff apart. and we have checked voltage and he replaced fuel pump and filter replaced injectors checked all fuses but we can only get it to spray fuel in and very lightly feather it. And that’s only after we dump fuel down the throttle body. The only thing I can think of as being a truck guy is possibly smog or possibly the security thing from the research I have done about it

It could be a VATS issue, but it is hard to say. Do the injectors fire? Is there spark? Is there fuel pressure? Was the computer changed for some reason, or an aftermarket chip put in?

Just a quick check to see if it is vats, pull the computers prom chip. See if it starts. If it runs and poorly it’s in limp home mode and you need to address the vats . A few ways to bypass it. As mentioned don’t assume fuel pressure is good you should check it 10-12 psi.
