TBI sensors?

I used to own a TPI iroc and am now lookin for a TBI RS and am wonderin what kind of emissions and sensor stuff it has. Does it have all the stuff the TPI has like a knock sensor, AIR system, with the stupid charcoal container, O2 Sensor, and can the EGR just be taken off the car without any problems? What about that tube that comes up into the aircleaner, what is that thing, and is it necesary? PLease help, dont know much about TBI...yet.

TBI engines have all of the sensors you've mentioned. The EGR valve can be removed and if the vacuum lines are plugged the car will run normally but, the computer sometimes checks to see if the valve is actually opening and if it's not there it will display a code. Also the EGR valve routes exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber which cools the engine so the computer can advance the timing without detonation. Might want to leave the EGR valve on. The tube coming from the valve cover to the side of the air cleaner assembly is just a valve cover breather. After you switch to an Open Element air cleaner you just replace it with a breather like this one.
