Planned Mods, couple questions
I have a couple questions before I start buying parts, first off here are my plans:
1.Vortec heads P/N 12558060 milled .040 for compression
2.Vortec Performer Intake, seems to be best RPM Range, would anyone recomend the Performer Air Gap?
3. LT1 Cam, seems to be highly recomended on this board!
4. GM 1.6 Roller Rocker P/N 12370839, these any good?
5. Stock Vortec Springs or K-motion P/N 571-K-700???
4. I will bump the fuel pressure
5. Custom chip
6. Stock TBI, should I get the 350 Injectors?
7. SLP Headers 1 5/8" P/N 30004
8. 3.42 Posi
Ok, from all the searches I've done, this setup should work great. The area that I am concerned about is the springs and Roller Rockers, I don't know much about them. What springs and R/R are good for a 305 with these mods. I have done searches and found mixed results. Any responses are greatly appreciated!
After this it's time to start getting all the parts. This will be my first time doing engine mods, so I just want to make sure that I am not buying any parts that will screw up how she runs.
Also, I would like to keep my stock valve covers, Will the 1.6 R/R fit under them?
One more thing, When I take off my old heads, Should I look for anything or can I see anything that would tell me my engine is bad. I would assume that I would be able to tell if I had a bad piston or something. It sure seems to run good, but it does have 120,000 miles on her.
Thanks, Matt

You may have to get the intake manifold machined to keep the angles between the milled heads and the intake lined up properly.
The stock TBI will work. I wouldn't jump up to larger injectors, just bump up the fuel pressure some.
1.6 ratio roller rockers will fit under the stock valve covers, you've just got to get ones made for centerbolt valve covers. I've got Crane Gold Race rockers on my engine.
Beware computer tuning issues. You might have to start burning your own chips to get the engine running properly.
