Which gears to get?
i want some gears that give me good off the line speed and when i punch it on the highway im gonna go... what do u guys recommend?
Gears
On the highway? 3:42 is a great all around gear setup. If you want higher highway speed, 3:23 is even better!
Up to you.... Going fast and driving fast and all around, I think the 3:23's would be fun. Off the line, the 3:42's and 3:73's are going to give you a faster launch, but a lower topend speed.
The 3:42's have arguably been the best all-around choice. Good for pickup, good for highway, and great for higher topend speed!
I myself have quite a bit of horsepower so I may be going with the stock 3:27 posi out of an 85 T/A.
I think with my setup it would be good.
It really comes down to what you want to do. For my application, because I drive a lot on highways, I find the 3:27 to be better for me. It makes quite a difference over the 2:73 open differential I have now.
I have been considering it, and thinking about it.... Now that I have the opportunity to get my rear discs and a 3:27 posi, I think it would be more than enough for my needs.
Just my opinion.

3.73's will give you teh best combination of et gains and drivability, 4.10's woudl be best for the track and best if you believe in going all out like i do(why instal a part that only gives you most of the gain that another part will give you for the same price?) realistically the step between 3.42's and 3.73's is only gonna be a few hundred rpm at most, and since cruising is easy on th emotor anyway, that is not really a big deal.
