Can I supercharge My TBI????

I've got a 92 RS and I need to know if there is any way to put a supercharger or blower on my engine?? Will the 350 TBI truck kit work? or do I have to look for an old used one for sale?

you can put a traditional roots type blower or a mopdern cetrifugal type blower onto tbi. holley has a roots blower that puts out about 6-7psi that will be a huge power increase but it does not fit below the stock hood. you woudl have to call paxton adn vortech if you wanna go with a modern centrifugal type kit though, the truck kits will not fit correctly in the f-body, but they did offer kits for tbi f-bods at one time, you woudl have to call to see if they are available.

I wanted to get one for my old '92 RS, but Paxton wouldn't fabricate one...you'll have to find a used one, and that's not something that's easy to come by.

Ive honestly only seen one tbi car on the interent with a blower (later model Firebird), but I think with a little intuition you could hook one up thats made for carbs. They had one on display at summit and it was just a pipe running from the supercharger to a metal casing that went all the way around the carb, pretty similar to what should fit on a tbi.

I am almost positive that you could use any centrifugal-type (i.e. ATI 88-92 procharger series) and replace the intake portion of the kit w/ the carb "bonnet" that ATI sells for the carbureted SCs.

Hell, everything bolts up exactly the same. Do a search on the power adder board; this has been discussed.

I have considered this as well...it would be nice to have a SC I could transfer from my TBI car to my TPI car if the occassion ever presented itself.

On third gens the alternator is relocated to the bottom of the engine and the blower is mounted in the alternator's original location (more or less). with a bracket fabricated by Paxton. This is how they got the blower to fit uner the hood on these cars. You could just buy the 3rd gen TPI kit since the mounting position and the bracket is the same. I am not sure about the truck kit. even though the engines are the same the mounting position might not be... I am sure Paxton would sell it to you if in fact it would work on the F-body.

All you need to do then is make a bonnet for the TBI to seal it up and plumb the blower to the bonnet.
