timing advance or retard ? ? ?
OK.. normally the way things go is you loose some here to gain some there..
how does it work for timing.. if you advance your timing are you taking away from top end power ?? or vise versa?
I'm just trying to figure out witch way to go.. I"m sitting at 5 * advance and can't even get my 255-50-16's to hook up worth crap even with 25 lbs in them.. still spins both wheels..
but yet when I get to about 75mph It almost seems like the pickup is much less..
one member told me that his tbi makes faster runs with it at 4 rather than 5..

TORQUE!!! Thats whats breaking those tires loose! TBI systems are good for that. At high speeds, dont expect alot of exceleration... In fact, acceleration decays rapidly as teh car accelerates to high speeds...
As for the timing issue... run as much as you can w/o getting spark knock w/ the grade of fuel you normally use. Use winaldl to make sure you get little or no spark counts. Timing is improtant because the air/fuel mixture needs time to burn completly. Timing farther in atvance alowes you to get the most power out of the fuel that goes into the engine.

oh.. and retarding the timing alot will help those tires hook up, i garantee it!
P.S. Your engine will run like ****!

if you wanna get better traction, expecially in a pickup thats light in teh rear, use a set of soft compound drag slicks, that'll help.

with the spark counts, at most you should see maybe just a few as your driving it. Under load if it starts populating cells like crazy, you know you have too much advance. My lo3 knocks a little when its firtst put under load because its old as he!! and the engine needs to be decarbonized. Yours probaby wont have any problem with maybe two or three degrees of advance past the tock setting. Dont go overboard though... The guy that i bought mine had it tuned to around 20 degrees BTDC... Didnt run withiut alot of knock.
