Quick question about MAT sensor...
Okay, i finally figured out that the bastard who sold me the car completely removed the bulbs for the check engine light...never noticed it until i went to grab the codes... anyway, i got a code 23 which is a faulty MAT sensor.... now my question is, where the hell is the thing? I have a TBI and all the references in the archives describe where it is on a TPI and i am stumped... thanks for the help.
...forgot to mention it has an open element air cleaner if it makes a difference...

BAK,
Well, it WAS in the bottom half of the air cleaner assembly. Since you have an open element and probably didn't move the sensor to the new air cleaner base, you get to install a new one or "cheat" and temporarily install a 4.7K resistor in place of the sensor. Eventually, you should install a sensor to provide the best operation in all temperature conditions. They don't do much on th eMAF TPI engines, but any sped-dednsity (including TBI) needs some reference for correct mixture control in open loop.

thanks... and where exactly would i hook the resistor or a relocated sensor in (what side of the motor does the wire usually run and connect to)?? How many prongs/holes does the connector usually have?? Thanks
