I got offered 5000 for my T/A.
It is the guys dream to own a kitt car. I am going to take the offer. Soon I will have a new car.
For what price would you guys sell your 3rd gen.

$6000 or better for me. Practically everything is new and works in almost perfect order (except for the damn bogging problem I'm having).
Mark, I'll give ya 5 bucks!

Not for sale.
Mine's not for sale. Sorry. Hehehe.
Seriously, with all the hard work and pain and suffering I went through with it, and the rewards it has given me... I doubt if I would ever let it go.
Still a lot more to do!

i would probaby sell my ride in a heartbeat if someone offered me more then 2500. its been reliable and hasnt broken down or anything, its just that little things annoy me like the rattles and stuff. id just love to own a clean stock 89 iroc 350 tpi and mod it from there, it would be so much easier then to "restore" my z.

And I'll give you a nickel to suck my ------, let's just say it rhymes with nickel.
. You said you would need an offer to be presented to you!! BTW-I wasn't insinuating your cars a piece of crap...its just....well........I'm poor as F**k. To hell with college.
I'll give you a pickle for the 'Vette in that pic. And they're Vlastics baby, not those cheap Wal-Mart POSs.
If someone made a decent offer on my convertable, I'd probably sell it. My RS is way past the point-of-no-return where you've put more into it than you could ever get back out of it. I couldn't sell it anyway. We've been together way too long.

got another question for you guys.
if money for car payments wasn't a concern, but a limited number of parking spaces were. how many of you would sell your thirdgen and buy a well equipped ls1 fourthgen?
(ls1 fourthgen = 300+ horsepower, 0-60 time under 6 seconds, over 25 Miles per Gallon on highway, and 6 speed tranny)

well I bought mine for $250 and the only things wrong with it were no exaust and a busted windshield (and that damn ugly cream paint job- yuck -that changed fast - to black) ran good till I decided to run it through some flood water and sucked water into the oil and spun a bering. That gave me an excuse to build a 355 and put it in there, man what a diffrence 305's SUCK anyways I'v got $10k in the engine alone so I woulden't sell it for less than that.

Well, I DO own a KITT replica. And it would take a hell of a lot of money for me to let it go. But, for the right price...anything is for sale.
I couldn't part with my IROC, I've wanted this car for so long that when I first seen it I had to have it. Sure they are not the fastest production cars on the planet, or packed with a 6 speed or LS1, or have the insurance premiums to match
But think about it, why did you get your 3rdgen in the first place? Was it because it can beat everything on the road today? Was it because it can out handle a Porche, Lamborgini, or a Ferrari? I know why I got mine, it was an awesome looking, easily workable piece of AMERICAN muscle, thats why!!! SO no I would never sell mine, no price is great enough.

i couldnt tell you. I have put about 7 grand into the car after the 5G price tag. It has top of the line EVERYTHING - Brakes. Thats still coming.
been showing off the ls1 6 speed transam to a few local thirdgen enthusiasts. majority are jealous of it's nice looks and combination of horsepower & fuel economy. seems like a thirdgen can have [good fuel economy] or [huge horsepower figures] but not both.
you're right, is very hard to part with a car that you've put countless hours into.
weird problems that old cars have never seem to stop. for instance 3 out of the 4 spotwelds on the headlight retainer ring just broke so headlight dangled in mid air and the popup headlights bound and couldn't popup. just found out the sheetmetal on the drivers door is cracked where the power window regulator mounted. (door flexes a little every time the window goes up or down, after a while it fatigues and cracks).

Well i've spent 8 grand total including buying the car so if someone gave me 8 grand for it now i'd take it but then turn around and buy another 3rd gen.
And to respond to the sell your 3rd gen and get a 4th gen I would never do it. Yea they may be faster and all that but i love the 3rd gens and don't care if im slower they sure as hell look a lot better.

That is a REAL GOOD question right now. I just bought my '89 IROC w\305 TBI for $2000.00. I bought it to fix up and drive back and forth to work. In less than two weeks of owning it, I have dropped $6000.00 worth of work into it including a new 305. So far the grand total is $8000.00 and it is still not passing GA Emissions Inspection. Looks like it may need a catalytic converter. So to sum it up, I would probably have to sell mine for right around $12,000.00 as that is where I will probably end up. But, it is worth more to me than money right now, as if it isn't obvious. I love this IROC. Now if I can only get a GA TAG on it....

Priceless
Well... In short.. all I can say is "priceless"
The only thing that would sell me is if I could find
a dealership that had a 91 or 92 Transam with the 5.7 engine, t-tops (perfect shape) car in perfect shape in midnight blue, that would trade me even up for the fact that my car would be of equal value due to the fact that my soundsystem is worth 4 grand, my exhaust cost me well over 1500 dollars, and other mods and upgrades totalling 2 grand.... and I paid 5000 for it.
but thats probably not going to happen....
so I will just keep creating my dream piece by piece.
its like building a body....
you start with a skeleton, then you throw some meat on it
and flesh, and MUSCLE and paint a nice SKIN (paintjob) on it, and you have yourself the complete package!
If I had to sell mine today, I would have a pricetag on it for 9 or 10000
of course.. noone is going to pay that for a 11 year old car..
so as you can guess.. my car is a keeper!!

I paid $8500 for mine. It only had 32,000 miles on it when I got it 20 months ago. So I would not take any less than that right now. But regardless, it is not for sale. Enjoying the t-tops too much in the Arizona sun.

I'd sell mine for $3,500.00 Then I'd just get another. Once I get a paint job I wouldn't sell it for less than $5,000.00 though. It's going to be a nice hoopti some day!

And the moral of the story is:
Any money you put in a car is money you're not getting back.
I've put maybe a $1000 into my gta (new exhaust, msd, etc) in the 4 months that i've had it. I bought it for $3400 in very good condition. I doubt i could sell it for $4400 and i'm still putting money into this thing, SOOOOO.........

The reason I ask is I am offered $5000 for the rusted thing. I have just now gotten a new paint job and the rust cut out and welded. This got done in three days. I now have a metalic black paint job that kicks ***. Hey $6500 if someone wants it. I have a lot of stuff included.
Also im sorry but i wouldn't pay 13,000+ for a thirdgen, even for a kitt conversion, i rather get a 87 GN or Turbo T with that dough, it does makes sence though, either have a mid 14sec car or a solid 12sec car.

for my 91, 100 bucks would take what's left of it. bought it for a parts car. just sold my 94 after i was getting closer to how i liked it. sold my other three third gens without a problem too. everything has a price on it and they make more. i enjoy building them almost as much as driving them.

i agree, i see no tech at all.
but, i wouldn't sell mine for anything, because any other third gen i'd get, i'd still have to rip out everything and make it to my liking.. ya know?
but sometimes, building is and planning is half the fun.
