two distributor questions--PLEASE HELP!

This is on my 91:

1) What goes into the black connector on the distributor? Where would this thing probably be if it's not hooked up the distributor? (i.e. would it be hanging somewhere?)

2) When I pulled my distributor, I marked a lot of stuff, but not the rotor position . I've had the distributor sitting by itself while it was out and haven't moved the rotor.

Do I have decent enough chances that the rotor hasn't moved or should I search for how to put it back in with the motor at #1 TDC?

Cort,

If you are asking about the four-wire connector from the distributor, it connects to the ECM and EST harness. There is a three-wire black connector that should connect the HEI module to the ignition coil on older HEI designs, but I don't think your '91 will have that.

The 91 should have 2 locations for wires, both go into the spark module. One is a 4 wire deal, the other is 2. Both shouldnt be far, probably hanging down just below the harness level on top of the tranny.

If you didnt mark it, I'd be putting it at TDC #1 and installing it that way. I can almost guarantee 100% you wont get it back in right otherwise.
