My GTA just stalled, WTF????

I had just taken her out of the garage and gone to the gas station when I came back and I had to do a 3 point turn in my parking lot. I had just made a hard Right so my wheels were all the way over and as soon as I put the car in reverse to backup it stalled, it just died!!!!! My car has NEVER stalled. It was at full running temp and my SLP chip keeps the idle at about 550 RPM when hot and @200 degrees. It started right up and had no other problems.

Was this just a fluke or a sign of a bigger problem ahead????? I'm not too worried but I want to make sure that nothing is wrong and that it was just a one time thing. I'm thinking that because it was at idle with the wheels were all the way over, that by putting it from drive to reverse it lowered to RPM's ever lower and the car just died but that doesn't make sense because it was runing in drive and the switch from drive to reverse is so fast that the engine wouldn't even notice in terms of the RPM's rising and droping right?

Alex

I'm pretty sure in every car I've driven that when the wheels were all the way turned that I guess it put some kind of strain on the power steering that it lowered the idle a bit, maybe it lowered yours just enough to make the car stall. I would go and try turning the wheel the way you did and see if it happens again.

So it just put a strain on the power steering having the wheels all the way over that it lowered the RPM's and it died? I don't think I want to go and try and make it happen again though.....

That would be my guess, but I'm no expert.

Well I tried recreating it while I was out and driving around tonight and I couldn't. My RPM's would get down to as low as 400 but it wouldn't stall. Wierd......
