Coil Explosion!!!!
I just tried to fire up my 83' Trans Am with the new motor in it and it wouldn't start because i found out i put the fuel line in the wrong port. I got out of the car to switch the fuel line and my MSD Blaster 2 coil blew up!! What could of caused this to happen? Please help.
Sandman,
Did you have the ignition turned ON while the engine was not running? That is an easy way to toast a coil, and the higher performance coils (higher primary current) are even less tolerant than the factory coils since they tend to runn hotter and break down the insulation faster. Leaving an ignition ON with the engine not running allows no time for the coil primary windings to cool between sparks, and used to be considered a major no-no when I was being educated (it was very tough on points, too).
Just my guess.

The car was not running and the keys were out of the ignition. However i found out that my coil came with a ballast resistor which i never installed.
