I just replaced the steering column in my car (91 Z) with one from the junkyard, afterwards the car wouldnt start and I was told by one dealer that the computer had to be reprogrammed and by another dealer that I just needed to get a new set of keys burned to match, so I took the cheap way out and got the key burned but the car still wont start, is it true I have to get the computer reprogrammed or is there maybe another reason. Thanks for the help

 

I'm not sure how this works, but if you had vats before and the column you have no has no provisions for it, you need to reprogram the chip or bypass the vats somehow.

 

The best thing to do is just by pass the vats. You could pull your old lock and tumbler assembly and put it in your new colum as well.
