fuel line routing

when i put a new fuel pump on my car, instead of getting the metal fuel line i got the cheap rubber fuel line. my question is can i run it where the stock fuel line was. i was thinking it would be to close to the engine and might melt the line. am i right or am i just stupid.

Thanks,
Dustin

I just use a rubber fuel line and I pretty much run it the same path as the metal fuel line went.

I was thinking that maybe it would be cooler (the fuel) if I routed it differently so it wasn't up against the block and rubbing right next to the lower radiator hose.....

And if I had cooler fuel, then perhaps I could steal a pony or two here and there..
