Need help advice on a car project.

I want to buy a 92 Z28 and have it built so it has about 600hp also i will want the transmission, rearend, brakes and suspension upgraded to make it useable for street use i'm not interested in a drag car it has to be useable on the street. Can anyone here recommend a performance tuner or engine builder that can take on this project for me.

Welcome to thirdgen.org.

600 hp and streetable don't usally go hand in hand with a SBC.

I'd suggest looking at 400 or so HP, adding a blower, maybe a bit of laughing gas to get you at 600hp...or consider ditching the smallblock, and look at a BBC as an alternative.

The larger the cubic inches you have, the more streetable the HP becomes.

Like mike said, if you are planning on going w/ around 600HP go with a big block. First off, it will be much easier with the added cubes, and second the motor will require less maintenance - a 350 pushing 600HP has a lot more things that can go wrong than a 454 or 502 pushing those same numbers.... and trust me, Mr. Murphy (of Murphy's Law) especially loves making unwanted appearances when it comes to cars.

Seeing as you are planning on getting around 600HP i take it you have a decent chunk of change?? I suggest going w/ a 502 crate motor to start out w/, then possibly adding NOS or a blower to get the extra hundred or so HP... granted you wont be able to say u have a 600HP NA car, it will be much more streetable...granted you will still get crappy gas mileage

it would be no problem to hit about 450hp with a406 sbc, but 600hp without a blower or nitrous oxide will be VERY hard and expensive.

Is there a big weight differance between a big block and a small block? I was thinking about a modified LS6 with a supercharger might get me around 500hp I know there's a few Z06 guys that are getting 525hp with Lingenfelters supercharger. Also the LS1 and LS6 are going to much lighter than one of those big block crate engines, so I guess the lower amount of horsepower from a ls1 would work out even because of the lower weight. But i'm pretty ignorant about engines don't really know much at all that's why i'm trying to find someone that does, but what do you think about the whole ls1/ls6 and weight differance issue?
