HELP!! - Oil Dipstick

I got a 305 block with a drivers side dipstick. I have bought about four pre 80 dipsticks none of them fit.

Jeg's told me that in 85 or 86 GM went back to the drivers side dipstick. Can anyone please give me the part number for this?

Thanks in advance.

You mean they won't fit as in the tube just won't go into the hole, correct? More than likely, you have the right part. It is just a TIGHT fit. They are kind of press fit into the block. I ended up having to sand the bottom of the tube a little to get it started into the hole in the block and then use a thrown together wad of tools to drive it into place. I put a box end wrench on the tube sized so that it caught the lip on the bottom of the dipstick tube. This gave me something solid to apply force to. Then, I had somebody support the other end of the wrench to keep it aligned while I put a bar on the wrench up near the dipstick to hammer on. Clear as mud, huh?

Well, my car is an '86 and the dipstick was on the passenger side for the original motor.
