true or false?

Hey guys, thanks for looking!
A few weeks ago I posted on a friends bbc( the one that didnt fire) well guess what the cam is toasted! It was caught and pulled before it completly destroyed the lobes however a few were worse than the otheres (its a fresh engine). We were told that the block should be taken apart hottanked, and new bearing to be installed and also a new oil pump. What do you guys seriously think. The first time we tried to start it, the starter was burnt and didnt spin fast enough to start. Changed oil and starter. Started for about 5min and the #8,7,6 rockers started ticking so we shut down. Lashed everthing and tried again for about 2 min and same thing it started ticking. Lashed again ran for about 5min and same thing started ticking. Has anyone gone through the same thing? Did you just replace the cam and lifters?
Any suggestion greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

sorry forgot to mention, wouldnt most of the shavings drop to the pan and drainned with the oil change. Also most of the rest should have gone to the filter right? Just grasping at straws!

Most of the shaving may drop into the pan, but they are not the one's you're concerned with...you should be concerned witht eh shavings that tried to squeeze hrough the bearing surfaces as well as through the oil passages.

If it were me, on a fresh engine, I'd tear it down. A high milage engine, I'd take a chance with flushing it in the car.
