question for the LT1 guys
question for the LT1 guys
ok, I got a super great deal on my intake, only 100 for everyhting from egr to injectors and vacuum lines and sensors, but anyway, does everyone have their remote thermostat set up like john's with the nipple on either side of the intake, or would it be possible to put the heater hose nipples on the front of the intake under the throttle body, and you would just have to do it before putting the TB on. . . I have plenty of room all over the place in front and on the right hand side of my motor since I have no ac or any of that garbage but do you think the lines would clear the throotle body?? maybe?

Turn that intake upside down and you will see a big open area under the TB exposed to the lifter valley. Now how you going to get that full of coolant without flooding lifter area with coolant also?
I put the coolant fittings on the intake flange because that's a direct connection the the coolant exit on each cylinder head.

I proly should have been able to determine that just by looking at the oil stains on the underside of the intake
so that pretty thick flange on the intake manifold picks up the coolant from the heads. . .and it doesn't leak? does drilling the hole disrupt the gasket underneith? for vader, the intake I got was off a 94 buick roadmaster, but it is the same exact intake as the camros and firebirds, I guess the guys thought that because it was off a "less desirable" buick it might not be worth as much. who knows, I am pretty satisfied because the injectors look brand new, not a mark on them.

Cadillac Fleetwoods, Buick Roadmasters and Estate Wagons, Caprice Classic Wagons, and lots of SEO (cop) cars came with the iron-headed LT1. There seems to be one other that I can't quite remember...

I was just wondering if you had found a trove of them somewhere.

I am pretty sure the impala SS had them too until they went FWD. . . oh yea, and for john, what did you use to paint your intake? just regular high temp paint or did you have some one coat it for you? if it is just paint, does it hold up ok once it is hot or does ot scratch really easy like my headers do??

My paint was rattle can hi-temp engine paint followed by a hi-temp clear. It is holding up rather well as the intake doesn't get near as hot as headers.
