My cooling fan is fried, go aftermarket or just replace the motor?
Ok, I'm pretty sure after all the stuff I've done my fan has crapped out on me. At first it started not working only once it had gone on and off about 3 or 4 times. today as I'm attempting to diagnose stuff, I tried jumping the positive wire going directly to the fan to the positive battery post and nothing. that pretty much makes it the fan motor. AutoZone has a fan motor for 30 bucks. Should I just replace the motor or am I better off with an aftermarket one all together? I plan on adding headers and a few other mods this summer. Also I did a search for aftermarket fans on here and didn't find much, if someone could recommend brand preferences and such or past threads that would enlighten me I'd be grateful! You guys have helped alot over the past week already

Go OE as far as the fan motor is concerned. Most aftermarket parts these days are CRAP. The AC-Delco replacement costs a few extra bucks, but in the long run it is well worth it.

i just bought dual flex-a-lite fans from summit. i like them alot. very easy to wire.. and when you hook it up to a toggle.. its awesome. they pull A LOT of air and dont use that much battery power. they were $200. mount easily, and dont have to remove the upper fan shroud at all. you should check them out. they work as a puller or pusher. the one thing it did not come with, was a toggle switch. i bought a 3 pronged lighted toggle from autozone for $4.. works awesome.
