Last Sunday leaving a store and turned on the A/C and smelt burning rubber. So turned it off and a few minutes later turned it on again no smell butt no cold either then smoke starts coming out of the vents. The A/C worked great the day before on a 3 hour road trip. Turn the vent on to get the smoke out of the car and when got home opened the hood and the belt for the A/C compressor was gone. No pieces of it anywhere. Check to see if the compressor was locked up and the belt pulley spins freely and the clutch spins. Did I burn the compressor up after the belt came off or should everthing be fine once I get the new belt on?
