got a question bout under drive pulley's

I recently bought under drive pulley's for my 91 camaro. I put them on tonite and now my belt is 2 inches too small. When I bought them the guy never told me nothing about changing the belt to a smaller one or getting a longer tension pulley braket. If you un bolt the altenator and move it the belt tightens up. My question is waht do I do? Do I get a smaller belt ? Do they make one for my car w/ a/c? Or do I fab a new braket for the tension pulley? Or is the belt just stretched out? I didnt know where to post this topic . Because I have a V6 in my car. I just thought this would be a good place too start. Any help is greatful.

Thanks
Dean

yes you need a smaller belt. approximately 1 1/2" look for the next number down at the parts store. i.e. if you have a 935k6, then look for a 930k6. they can look it up in the book for the exact lengths.

Of course you'll need a smaller belt, unless you can move the alternator enough. What I did when I had one underdrive crank pulley on, is cut the belt you have, and use that to measure what size belt you need and either cut off the access or mark it off. Take it to trak auto and they have a belt size thingie that will tell them what size belt you need.

Thanks guys.....I went down to AUTOZONE and told them want I needed and told them that my belt was 2 inches too big . So they gave me another one which was 2 inches smaller. I tried it out in the parking lot and that was a inch to small. So I went back in and they swapped me for another one but this was an inch bigger. After busting my hand up I got it on. All I have too say is "Welcome too the wonderful world of owning a camaro."

Thanks

Glad to hear everything worked out. Did you get the March Power Amp ones or regular under drive pulleys? Let us know how your charging is.

That's usually your best bet when looking for belts. Bring your old belt, usually the parts store can match something up by measuring your old belt on the gauge.

Also, keep in mind, some place will let you buy the belt, try it, and as long as the belt isn't damaged, and is able to be re-sold, you can exchange it for the proper size belt.

that's how we do things where I work
