Engine starting problems after engine swap..please help!
I've ran the engine fine...but it seems as if after a few cranks for running the engine, I guess you could say that the starter seems to wear out. It'll turn over, just not enough. Now, my battery still seems to be charged high, (around 13volts or so). Sometimes also, I hear a buzzing sound coming from the starter, and when I go to the engine bay, I smell something like plastic burning. I was wondering if maybe the silinoid or somethin was bad. This is a relativly new starter, so I don't know what's up.
The swap I did, was an LG4 to 78' 350. Got rid of all emissions, running a vac adv. dist now with new coil. (Other engine mods but those I guess are irrelivant.)
In the mornings it seems that the car will start perfectly fine, like it's supposed to. But if I try to start it a couple of times, I run into my problem. (the engine is dying due to a vacuum leak I suppose, which I'm fixing today), but is it that I"m starting the car too much and need to let it rest?
Thanks for the help.
PS. Has anyone ever had a problem finding a dipstick for their block? For some reason, every dipstick tube I get is slightly too big, and even after hammering that thing in there, it wont go in, I just end up bending it. Any takes? The dipstick is on the driver side and goes through the block. Block is from 1978.
PSS. One more thing, what do you guys prefer, adjusting valves with engine running or without?
