I have an 89 TA with a 305 TBI, auto that I'm selling and have never had any problems with until...Ihop in it to give the potential buyer a test drive yesterday. The cr is going fine for the first 7 or 8 minutes, then all of the sudden the RPM's start to pulse, and it dies in OD. I start the car and it idles rough with the tach and volt meter pulsing...car wont stay started unless it's in Park the rest of the day. Next day (today), the car starts and idles fine,wih no fluctuations in the volt meter, again in park, but as soon as I put in gear it dies. What could this be? Please help me here, as I have this guywaitingto buy and a car that won't keep running now ironically enough, for the first time in the 3 years that I've owned it.

 

Sounds as if the car likes you better than it likes the other guy...

 

But seriously, does it also have trouble accelerating while it's doing this?

yeah, it does it as soon as I shift down from Park, no matter what gear I put in in....the idle is very rough, and stays that way until you rev to 2k and beyond, then it's ok......whadda ya guys think here? I'm at a loss. It was ok one minute then a POS the next...
