I need distributor info

I bought a 91 GTA w/60,000 m. a couple of weeks ago. I have already replaced the fuel pump and shocks on it and am ready to tackle th ignition. I can tell the car has been worked on. K&N, air foil, chip, 3.73 rear. I am wondering what kind of distributor and coil come stock on my car and why have they done what they did to it. They have the coil placed all the way over on the drivers side fender well. Also there are a bunch of cut and spliced wires. I know the coil wire should be no longer than 12 inches and it's about 2 foot! Car kinda idles rough but I think that may be the problem. Any help? Thanks in advance!
