Vader-->coolant temp sender resistance

my gage shows that i go to like 230° when idling and i'd like to know if that's accurate. i know that at 100F the sender is supposed to have a resistance of i think 1.5kOhm (not sure on exact number, book's not here) and at 260F it's 55Ohm. If i make a temp vs. resistance graph, put these two points on and connect them with a line, should i be able to get a resistance reading off the sender and see what temp it correlates to with the graph? or is the resistance growth/decay curve non-linear? and if it's not, do you know what resistance i should have at 220F? thanks.
