Bouncy Idle???

Hey guys, I have an 88 IrocZ Camaro with the 305TBI. I have 110k on the engine and have been experencing a rough idle. Want can cause this? Misfiring injector? plugs? Once in a blue moon it will just stall as well. What can be the problem?

help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Murph,

I'd clean the TBI and IAC ports. Check the fuel pressure and pump flow, and take a good look at the ignition system. With the phenomenon being intermittent, I would tend to rule out plugs, cap, rotor, and wires. Either the HEI module or coil could be an issue, but inspect/test everything anyway to be sure.

Any trouble codes?

I had a problem with this similar thing in my 89 IROC about a year ago. The idle would be fine until the car warmed up and then it would bounce from about 300 to 800. Turned out that the O2 Sensor had gone out and it wasn't reading so it F'd up the idle. Just a thought...hope you figure it out...I know how much of a pain it can be.
