intake backfire when cold

intake backfire when cold

i have a 305, edelbrock 600 performer on it and a weiand intake,the rest is pretty much stock,it backfires and stalls when its cold,really anoying i cant figure out why

the choke is not set properly. is it a new carb? if so then it definitely should be set i just bought my dad a new carb for his 68 torino and it does the same thing and all we had to do was set the choke. make sure it is set. dont know if that same thing applies to an electrical choke but i am sure someone else will help ya out as well.

it could be a bent valve but thats not too likely. mine does the same thing if i dont let it warm up fir like 10 min, a rich fuel mixture can also cause it so like he said check the choke.

Actually, I was thinking advacned timing and a lean backfire, not rich.

I have the same problem too, if it's cold and I give it too much gas in D it will stall out on me. So I just let it warm up enough or if I can't wait for the car to warm up to like above 150*, I just take it easy on the gas.
