New to 3rd Gen- Need help in AZ

hey guys, i just got an 88 IROC. i need to know who is dependable to take this car to. I bought this from a friend who put an LT1 into the car, but it has been sitting in his backyard for over 4yrs due to tranny probs. now the keys are lost, so im gonna have to have the entire car rekeyed. anyone know of a good shop in the AZ valley i can trust? that wont screw me over? also, what kind of work can i be expecting. i know im gonna need new battery, belts, and a full fluid flush.. but what else am i looking at?

Why take it to a shop? Everything you listed you can easily do yourself.

If you want to pay someone to do it, that is fine, but you wont find anyone that will take care of your vehicle the way you would.

Depending on where you are located, what you want done and when, I may be able to help you out... Email me.

Desert,

of the items i have listed above, i am sure i can handled everything except the rekey- i am not familiar with that at all. my worry is a friend mentioned that they had an older 280z that sat for 4 yrs, and after they did the fluid change, and they started it up, all the seals blew because of rot in the az sun. my curiosity is wondering after the battery, belts and fluid change, will i need to do anything else to make my new baby dependable (aside from the needed tranny work)? i the car is sitting in my friends backyard in scottsdale, and i went and looked at it just this sat.- engine compartment is very clean- he took good care of it. the LT1 looks like a new engine, and from what i am told, it had less than 4k mi on it when it was put in, and he only ran it for about 5k before the tranny took a dump on him. another friend suggested that since it has been sitting so long, im gonna have to do a complete rebuild?! i wish i could say i am an expert motorhead, but, sadly, i cant claim that title. i can do some work, but, taking apart an engine is something i have yet to do.

Plan on buying new tires, if they haven't been moved on a regular basis the sun has made big flat spots on them. I wouldn't worry about the gaskets if you run the same type of fluids. You might want to replace the wiper blades and brake lines also.
