160 thermostat

Hey Guys,

I have tried to search if its good or not, but i come up with mized up answers, can someone please who has one tell me if it good or not.

I'd use a 180 degree stat....Most engines make their max power between 180-195 degrees.

For computer controlled cars no. They'll mess with the computer. Just go with a 180* and lower fan temp rating. That is the main thing to change since stock the fans don't come on till around 220*.

Why would that be. It's been proven on TPI cars, that they make more power below 160* or so, according to Ed Maher, I believe it was. Though this isn't practical for daily driving. Plus as heat increases the engine so does underhood temps increasing air temp that enters the intake which reduces power.

I run a 160* stat in my L98 with no problems..Yes it runs a little rich,but my temp rarely goes over 190*even when it's 95 and humid....

bro just go with the 180..the 160 will do nothing for you...unles you have a different chip that requires a 160 stat like myself..if not stick with a 180..later
