Sweet sound

I'm sure you guys have heard it before, its that off center (almost) poping sound when its idling. I've heard it has something to do with the cam. Any way i can get that sound on a 305?

You mean where the car sounds like it's missing, like blop blop blooooop blop . Comes from a high duration camshaft. You can get that sound by getting a high duration camshaft. Don't go too high with stock heads.

yup that would be a high lift cam. anything over 490 lift definitely needs a change to springs. upwards of 600 lift i believe the heads need to be reworked for that much lift. but a high lift cam will do that. but along with that sound comes the shakes at idle. nuttin like shakin at a stop light when people look at u not understand if your car is gonna die or light em up!

Not too mention it can cause problems with low vacuum and your accessories.

thats the sound i'm talking about
shakes don't bother me, the vacuum i can fix with a pump, but what kinda problems can it cause to accessories?
also, what will a high lift cam do other then make it sound bitchin? (as if it were just for sounds )

well there is turn heads, if u go real high and only drive it for 15 min when u get out of the car it will feel like you rode a lawn mower across the u.s. and then there is more fuel to go through since it holds the valves open longer. just dont go to high other wise it will be a bitch to keep it runnin u will literaly have to pour gas down the damn thing to keep it runnin
