a/c compresor and smog pump removal

my daily driver 89 camaro rs 305 tbi's a/c pump has started to make some funny noises.

Not that i really care, because i never use the a/c anyway, so i figured i'd just try to remove it from the serpentine setup. But i figured while i'm in there, could i take the smog pump out too?

I studied it for a while and i think i can do it with just a shorter belt. I think i see a perfect way to rout the shorter belt too.

But anyone got any suggestions or comments?
