im just sorta wondering were everyone in here shifts, i just biult a brand new motor for 2002 racing season and im gonna give it 6000 befor i shift, my mods are in my sig.

 

Considering the cam in my motor sucks, I shift around 5k in 1st and 4k in 2nd. That will change by next year though.

 

In the Bird I just leave her in D, shifts around 5500 in 1st & second, It could hit it inb third but Id have to let off to keep it in OD. No point in holding it over the 6k tach limit although its cabable.

 

Need a little more info on the cam and what kind of rods you've got but if it's a huge cam you need to shift 6-7k if you got the rods to keep the pistons in the cylinders. Take it to a dyno machine and shift at the peak of the power curve. I would stay closer to 6k or bring a box and shovel to pickup the parts of your engine that are going to be grenaded everywhere.
