Aftermarket shift *****?

I have been searching for awhile for anybody that sells aftermarket shift ***** for our cars. It's not very easy to find the stock ones, and so far I haven't really found any aftermarket ones that are meant specifically for the T5. I know I could just but the crappy universal ones with the Allen screws that eventually just strip and don't actually hold to the shifter, but I am looking for something that will screw onto the shifter and requires no modification.
So far, this is about all I could find, and I really like this one:

http://m.ebay.com/itm/271978249963?u...=0&_mwBanner=1

If I get this one I will probably end up using some glow in the dark paint on the shift pattern or paint it blue. But I'm wondering if anybody out there has seen aftermarket shift ***** that fit our stock T5 shifters.

I'm looking at another plastic one or billet or something else. I'm going to be doing a leather shift boot still but I don't think I want to do a leather shift ****.

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

IIRC the thread is 16mm x 1.5 which is very common

Summit racing has 67 diff ones to fit that thread size. Everything from round *****, to T handles, to pistol grips, etc

Hawks third gen parts has a bunch as well

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

I bought mine from SickSpeed on Ebay. He's got a zillion of em. Mine is just a plain white cue ball, but they have every color you can imagine, shift pattern or without. ...and if ya want leather, I "think" 4th gen cars are the same, although don't quote me on that.

I had a buddy of mine that play semi-pro ball, and he drilled out a baseball and epoxy'd a nut up in there. worked great too. Not for me per se, but it was pretty cool. Options are pretty limitless.

I ended up ordering one from that summit racing link that Night rider posted. Some of them I think are still not quite the right size though. I ended up ordering a black one with a white shift pattern. There's one that is black with white stripes and white shift pattern that looks cool but it's not the right thread size. And from what I have read on here the 4th gen V5 manual shift ***** are the same threads because they were still the world class T5's. But I don't know about the T56 ones.

Yeah, I've got the Pro 5.0 shifter, so it may very well have a different thread pattern. I just know that there are several places with several different thread patterns. I didn't list which was right wrong, etc. etc. because I didn't want to confuse the issue.

Anyhow, good luck with the one you got!

I was looking for somebody who made shift ***** specifically for the 3rd gens. I have had the universal shift ***** in manual trucks before and they are garbage.

But the one I ordered is supposedly the exact same threads so it should screw right on. My buddy was talking about doing some type of LED one so when he gets finished with his degree we might look into making something like that.

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

So when you say specifically for the 3rd gen, what is it you're referring to? Appearance or threads? ...because I think the appearance can hardly be considered 3rd gen. Round black shifter ***** have been used since the beginning of time. ...and threads are threads, they either fit or they don't.

Mainly thread count. I found on that summit link that there was a few that looked like they were the exact same as the factory shift ****. But some of them come with adapters or aren't the same size. Which is what I have found online a lot. There are a few that require a jam nut or something else but use the same threads. I was mainly looking for something like direct replacement that screws on and is just as secure as the factory ****.

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

I've been thinking of just getting one of the classic Hurst shifter *****. They come in black or white, polished or matte finish, and can be gotten either with, or without the 5-speed shift pattern embossed on the ball.

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

Yeah, that's what I have. White, no pattern. I was 50/50 between getting black or white, but I get all kinds of compliments on the white. Guess it was the right choice!

Re: Aftermarket shift *****?

This is the one I ended up getting. (Ignore the nasty shift boot) I got it from summit. It's slightly smaller than the stock shift **** but not much and then obviously has the shift pattern. I'm happy with it. The threads on it are the same as the factory but it comes with adapters you can screw into it to work on other shifters, but my experience has always been that if it's not the stock threads, it won't work as well.
