air filter

Ok, believe me guys i searched the boards about this because I'm going to feel like a jerk just asking about this. Where are the air filters on a 5.0 TPI located???? I looked in my haynes manual but it only has the air cleaner for the EFI engines, no TPI so i'm at a loss. And also everybody talks about cutting off the ends of the air box, can somebody tell me where that is and how much of it should be cut off to help performance? please don't make fun, i feel like a fool as it is, i'm thinking its the filter thats underneath the dual snorkel intake, but of course i'm probably wrong. anyways sorry for the stupid question and thanks in advance

You are exactly right, there is a pair of them under that snorkel.
As far as cutting off the box....I don't know exactly how the boxes are constructed on the later models, but on mine there were 2 baffles in each box, held inplace with some screws. I took the baffels out and cleaned out the boxes good and reassembled the aircleaner. Those stock baffels don't do a bit of good but do seem to restrict airflow pretty well.
