350 engine in '88 Iroc convertible?

I've been looking for a good Iroc convertible and have ran across an 88 that the owner said the first owner ordered it with the 350 or had the 350 installed when he got it. Anyway they said it has always had this engine. I read somewhere something about some convertibles did get 350's but I don't remember if I read they were ever factory installed. Were they able to be ordered from the factory? It also has rear disc brakes. Would there be any paperwork they should have to prove it? Was there an option code for a 350 convertible? If they did, about how many were made? The VIN doesn't designate the 350 but the 305. Are these car worth having?
Your comments are appreciated.

Try the History board for this... you'll most likely get a better answer there.

He might have gotten a 350 installed somewhere but it did not come from the factory with one... that for sure. Chevy never put them in convertibles because the bodies can't handle the torque.

Check the block at the back of driver's side against the firewall. It should say 5.0L or 5.7L. The blocks look the same so someone can say its a 350 but its really not.

RPO code B2L (350) was not a valid option on factory convertibles.

RPO code J65 (rear discs) was a valid option on factory convertibles in 1988. It wasnt available in 1989 though.

I say snap up the car. As long as it's mechanically sound, it is probably going to be a great car.
