Biggest valve size heads for 305?

Have an 89' 305 TPI

Long term I will lose the 305 for a 400+cubed motor.

Current 305 plans:
1) Accel runners, intake, ported plenum, bigger injectors, own prom burning
2) Stock 305 bottom end
3) Supercharger capable of 15psi on the 400+cubed motor
4) Heads, and maybe a cam

Now...I as planning to go with Vette heads on the 305 milled down to 54cc. But, Iv'e read that bigger valves (2.02/1.6) are possible on 305 without a lift greater than .550. SOOOO, can I get AFR heads installed on my 305, as long as I don't run a big cam? Say an AFR 190 or 195? Or just go with the Vette heads until the big motor comes?

You can run 2.02/1.60 valves without any problems on a 305. Shrouding is the major issue at lifts of .550", not clearance problems. I say go for the AFR heads, if you get some nice worked over L98s, it's just throwing your money away because you wont get the same amount of $$ when you sell them for how much you invest in them.

I just bought a set of Aerohead from Indiana-they're just 305 casting hogged out with 2.02/1.60, valve springs good to .525 lift, and guide plates, even come with dished stainless valves $475 to my door-oh and 160cc runners. Not the best head in the world but for a budget 355 what the heck, plus it ought to match the rest of the components I'm doing.

I have a set of similar 305 heads on my motor. 601 castings, port polish, valve job, milled, 2.02/1.60 valves, edelbrock springs, aluminum roller rockers 1.5. Runs nice!
