rattling from engine bay! help!

when ever the rpm's go up or down, like taking off from a stop or making one, my engine makes a soung like someone shaking a tin can full of b-b's. it sounds like it's coming from either the top or front of the engine, but i can't pinpoint it. could it possibly be a loose timing chain? please help!

Yeah, the heat shield on my headers or something makes an annoying rattle on my car.

Woody, you didn't say if you had a cat or not, but if you do, sometimes the core in the cat will come apart in the cat and sounds just like you describe, also if you still have the exhaust diverter valve in the system (hooked up in line under the passenger exhaust maniflod) make sure the actuator rod is still hooked up to the butterfly valve, if not, it will rattle whenever you change rpm's.
