Radiator Repair

I have a 86 Camaro with the LG4. When I bought it, it had a near new radiator. It has developed a leak along the joints between the side tanks and the radiator core.
I recognize that a new radiator would solve the problem, but since it seems to be such a simple leak, is there a way of fixing it? Does it make sense to remove it and try to tightening the crimps in the rad that hold the tanks on? Is there a radiator sealant that doesn't just fill the engine with unwanted residue?
Your thoughts/opinions will be appreciated.

Take it to a rad shop. This way it can also get pressure tested to make sure the leak is actually fixed.

When I totalled my car, I smashed the side tank... I took the side tank off my parts car (radiator had mud in it!), and tried to put it onto my radiator. I bought a new side tank gasket for $3 from a radiator store. I followed the GM service manual exactly- and the frickin thing leaked like hell. I even followed the crimp sequence for the tabs exactly! So I tried tightening the crimps; it leaked even more; so I finally got a junkyard radiator for $50. The radiator looked brand new... thankfully. I think the guy put the radiator in and then got rearended... sucks for him, good for me.

I also got one out of the boneyard . Paid the same as Tom did . In real good shape to . Just remember to check it out good before you buy it , make sure you look for rust and check the fins to make sure theres not too many bent .Look around for leaks . I know you prabably know to do this , but when I got my radiator I was so excited I found one , that looked like it was in good shape I didnt look at the bottem and turn it around and inspect if for leaks that good , I remembered to do it when I got home , but I was lucky I didnt have any leaks . I also have a friend that hangs on on the V6 board that lives in SOCAL that bought one in real good shape at the boneyard for 35 bucks !!!! Bring a hacksaw like he does and just hack the hoses off . Don't forget to get the little rubber stoppers on the top and bottem to , I forgot them !
