TPI or Carb
TPI or Carb
I recently bought an 88 gta hard top. The original motor (350 5.7l) was blown so the person before had put in a 305 with a cam. He then put a holley 4 barrel double pumper carb in. Then for some reason he took off the cab and started putting on the fuel injection but didnt finish. I bought the car with the TPI manifold on but it is not finished nor is it wired. I have all the parts for the fuel injection but time is a factor right now. Should i finish the TPI or pull it off and put the carb back on?
Here are the specs on the car:
brand new TCI 7000r4
Aussie 9 bolt posi rear w/ 1LE brake set-up
Aluminum Drive Shaft
has brand new WS6 suspension
All new exhaust with headers, high flow cat, Flow master with dual 3 inch stainless steel pipes
also if anyone needs a digital dash let me know.

If times a factor, why not put the carb on for now and then later use the TPI. Be sure to take care of your TC LU problems. Also, if you want TPI you'll need a CC distributor.

Stay with the TPI. My buddy talked me into keeping mine, and now I'm glad I did. I'm trying to figure out how to adapt one of these set ups for my 77 T/A 400.

I bet he started putting the TPI back on because it was running a 43psi fuel pump, and he didn't want to drop the tank to put the standard 7 psi fuel pump to allow the carb to work. Dropping the tank is a pain in the rear. Put the tpi on, you'll be happy you did.
