depends how strict it is and in what tune your engine is in.

Lean conditions also raise NOx's. So even though you lowered HC's you may fail in another area. If they do an underhood check you're prolly screwed for tearing out computer control. If not Jet it a richer and run it on straight Methenol (dry-gas). Don't beat on it as you may be VERY lean with alcohol, as it has a very low BTU efficiency.

It burns very clean though.

2 words HELL NO! I tried that before didn't quite workout. So i had to do all the work to put on a new catalytic convertor. I live in california so they are pretty strict about emissions. Don't waste the effort just put a cat back on er'. I'd probably go with a better flowing one. I think alot of the guys here would have some good suggestions. Good Luck. Laters.

Depends.

If they do a visual check, and check the cat (theres an easy way to check if its hollow) then youre screwed.

If not, you can pass without one. The car has to be running fairly decent, but its doable without a cat. I've passed more than a few cars out here in Cali that had no cats, they are close but still pass.

Sorry I read through the SIG's too quick and though you had the Holley double pumper... so you don't have jets and all that.

It's definatly doable w/o a cat and creativity. Also consider getting a cheapy cat and put it in for inspections It' not too difficult if you use a band clamp at the front slip fit.

The new cats flow so freely there is no excuse for not having one on your car if your state has inspections.

Here in Ohio they just stick a mirror under it to see if its there. On cars I've had that wouldnt pass I just put a gallon of racing alcholol to half tank of gas, get engine hot and drive right through.

In my area of ohio they dont even have an e-check. But the next county over does, and guess what? they only test for two gases: co and hc.

So....check out what they test for in your area, you could get lucky and they'll be complete idiots....which is a pretty good possibility.

Plus i'm pretty sure the ones in ohio are minimum wage workers....so its a pretty good chance you can just slip them a twenty and get passed.

I do love it when the government shows their ignorance....

i live in cleveland (has e-check) but co-op for school in fostoria (no e-check) so i registered the car using my fostoria address and got my fostoria mail forwarded to cleveland so i can get all my renewal stuff there. fostoria didnt even require proof of residency when i registered it. if you know anyone in an area w/out e-check see about registering your car there and if they require proof of residency there to register your car then have your cell phone, cable tv, etc. bill sent there for a month and use that.

i plan on getting my car echeck in about two weeks. i am going to go to wal mart and buy that stuff that says it will pass any echeck. i used it two years ago after my car fail bad. i am also going to replace my chip with the stock one. my car is now running lean setting a code every once in a while while driving. should i get rid of this code first or is running lean a good thing?

i believe your NOx is going to go up running lean, your hc however will probably go down.

i'd get that fixed regardless though, a lean burning engine is never a good thing.

I went thru state emissions checking a few years in the row, and passed with flying colors. Then I decided to put a high flow cat on, since my stock one was rusting out where it met the y-pipe. Turns out the previous owner had gutted the cat. Go figure... and I was passing emissions.

I put the High-flow cat on, anyway.

Good thing, too, because a few years later, NJ went to that stupid dyno emissions test.
