Valve adjustment

Hey, guys. I'm still fighting with my IROC. I finally broke down and took it to a dealer. They fixed my skip, but said there was a noise in the top of the motor, but due to an exhaust leak, they're not sure exactly where the noise is coming from. Anyway, I've read about adjusting valves with the engine running, but couldn't find a "how-to" on the subject. I don't know if the fact that they're roller rockers would complicate things or not. Thanks in advance.

Get the engine running and warmed up. Pop off one valve cover at a time and go through each side. Back off each rocker till you hear it start to tap. Then tighten it slowly. Listen carefuly for the point where the tapping goes away, then tighten it another 1/4 turn and lock it down. Be carefull to keep your exaust taps and valve taps straight

Thanks, I guess I'll give it a shot this weekend. Maybe I'll get her back on the road some day. I've been IROC-less since March.

Either get the rocker arm clips or somebody's cut-out valve cover to do this and still be prepared for an oily mess. I'm yet to see them set without some oil going airborn.

I thought about the oil launching issue, and just set the valves the clean way. I've got to finish putting everything back on this evening and maybe, FINALLY, get my car back on the road. It IS t-top weather after all.....
