Is there a way to test a VSS sensor? Speedo quit working 92 Camaro 5-speed
Like the subject says, my speedometer quit working and I've checked and rechecked the wires, fuse's and everything else I can think of, I'm not getting any code's other than a 12 over and over, I think that is normal? Would a bad VSS throw a code 24? I don't want to go buy a new one with out testing the old one first. I tried doing a search but didn't find anything helpful. Thanks

I would think if you can get it safely up in the air and run it in gear the sensor should be putting out some kind of voltage that you can read with a digital voltmeter and it would get stronger the faster you turned the wheels.

My VSS just died 2 weeks ago in my 92. It will set a code within 5 minutes of highway driving, every time if the VSS or the wire to the ECM is bad.
If your ECM isn't complaining, the problem HAS to be in circuit to the speedo, or the speedo itself. You can pick up spare 92 110 guage clusters on ebay for next to nothing usually since they came in all the base cars and non-G92 Z28s.
