where can i get a dual snorkel
hey guys. i was at a show the other week, and some guy had a new dual snorkle air cleaner. it was professionally done. i never got to speak to him (he was walking around at the time) but i heard through a friend that apparently some outfit out of canada is making them, or something?
anyone heard about this? anyone have one? I'm def. interested in dual snorkel, but if i go for the custom job (read "homemade"), it'll look like shat and that won't jibe well with chrome valve covers..etc.
Thanks

If you want to look factory, then you will have to keep an eye on the Classifieds here on thirdgen for a real GM Dual Snorkle outfit. GM doesn't make them any longer but has a hoard of them stashed away for sale with a complete engine/tranny upgrade they put together just for third gens.
The place in Canada is called Ram Air Box but their dual snorkles do not look the same as the GM ones. They do look professionally designed and assembled though, so it will prove a good replacement for a well maintained third gen. They are at www.ramairbox.com

Keep your eye on ebay, they show up every now and then.
I'll tell you now that, unless it is the COMPLETE assembly, you will play hob trying to find the right and left scoops.
I called dealers from the east coast to the west coast, Maine to Arizona, and every where in between trying to find the scoops. I did find the right scoop in Buffalo, Ny, but the left scoop is nowhere to be found.
Also, the flexible ducts can be elusive. According to the dealer I went to here, I got the last two that were available from Willow Run (Detroit area) That's what he said
If you do go with the L69 air cleaner, get the lid from a truck tbi, it is a little taller and allows the air to enter the carb a little smoother/less restriction

Good advice on the truck cover though... any one in specific?

The lid from a 79 vette seems to fit well, and fit under the hood. It will require a larger filter (3" tall I think). I actually got mine off a buick station wagon, but it's identical to the one on our vette.
FYI, one person said they emailed the ram air box people and they can't get the scoops any more either.

The part# is 25043641
I ran it through www.gmpartsdirect.com but comes up with no matching parts.........BUT if you click the performance tab, then look under "fuel delivery" they'll have a picture of it along with the part#...
I would e-mail them to get the price.

After inspecting the site that Sitting Bull linked to, i regret to inform you that left and right scoops as well as the tubing that runs from them to the air cleaner are avialable through ram air box for relativley short money
I had hoped that I would be able to get a left scoop, but it was not to be. I guess I'll continue to use the LG4 scoop that sort of works but isn't the "right" part.
I defer to my original statement. Find a complete assembly.

I got the right scoop and both flex ducts from Next Gen.
With my intake manifold, the factory dual snorkle lid is rubbing the hood insulation mat. Without a cowl induction hood, I don't see any way to go with a taller lid.

5-7;
That is just bizarre that the taller lid doesn't fit yours. Mine's an 84, also converted from a V6. I've got a complete ZZ4 crate motor, so I have the same intake you have. I have the factory electronic qjet as well. And I've got a GOOD 1" to 1.5" above the factory lid. It clears the raised lid very well, and I can ALMOST fit a drop base 14x4" open element under my hood, which is the ORIGINAL hood.
I don't get it.
