The book says 80 ft lbs, but I've always used 100 on aluminum rims. I think I got that # from a tire installer. I'm interested in seeing what everyone else says.

Yup. 80 - 100 ft/lbs. When I worked at a tire place back in high school we torqued them to 100. On my personal cars, I torque to 90. Just a sort of happy medium. Unless I don't feel like being bothered by it (it happens, like a really freakin hot day). In that case, I use one and a quarter grunts on the torque elbow.

Pre-torque to 80% of final (in the "star" pattern, of course), then final torque to the spec. My '86 crosslace wheels are supposed to be torqued to 90 lb/ft. Oddly, the bigger, heavier 'B' cars get only 80 lb/ft on the 17" alloys. Go figure. Don't forget the Never-Seez on the back faces to prevent etching.
