How many psi should the coolant system hold? The pump I have will only go up to about 17psi before it itself starts to leak air and I'm trying to find out what blew when I was breaking in the engine. Should it take 20psi? 30psi?

Or if it holds 17psi for 10 minutes straight does that sound like the coolant system is sealing fine?

Most GM radiator caps are rated at 14-17 psi, so I'd say that if it can hold 17 psi for a while the coolant system is good.
