I can get a 1983 CFI 305 w/ 175 horse and 250 Ft/Lbs at 2800 for $100 w/ tranny and everything i need... or i can get a 1987 TPI 305 w/ 190 hp and 295 Ft/lbs at 3200 rmp for $700 excluding tranny. Which is the better deal. And finally, why does everyone seem to dislike the CFI, i realize that they are not as fast as a TPI and do not have the same torque, is that the only reason why?

I'm not positive, but I don't think the CFI is that good of an induction, that's why GM didn't stick with it. Personally I would go with the TPI.

Buy them both....$100 bucks for a motor and tranny, you cant go wrong.
Heck add a new intake go with a carb, and your good to go...If nothing else, you will have some parts for cheap
