Summer cooling problem...
I have a problem...actually a bunch. I just bougfht a camaro with a 350, summit headers, (I replaced the carb to a holley 670 CFM avanger) performer intake and corvette cam (stock 350 heads). Now, I had the engine overheat, I replaced the water pump (checked the head gaskets and they weren't leaking and no white smoke out the tailpipe). It still runs a little hot. What could be the problem? I have an exhaust leak under the passenger side, so that may be the problem...or do I need a new radiator? I was thinking of using a really good water additive. I think the radiator needs to be flushed good. ALSO, I replaced the power steering fluid in march and yesterday I checked it and it was EMPTY. Can overheating do that? I am gonna check that because I think I have bad hoses. I am just worried that i have to get a new radiator.
Thanks!

Thermostat
The guy put one in when I had the water pump put in. Pretty sure its stock, but the fan comes on automatically when the car starts. I found a jug of antifreeze in the back of the car when i gbought it so I think he disconnected the thermostat.

I believe I replied to your post on the Cooling board. I really don't like having a separate board for it, just noticed it today.
You can't disconnect a thermostat.

86,
Yes, it sounds like you have more than one problem. The fan should not start as soon as the engine starts.
Just a couple of hints related to the carb swap:
Lean = hot. Check idle air bleeds, vacuum leaks, float levels, and the power valve sizing;
Using a Holley in place of the E4ME is going to take the ECM right out of the mixture control scheme, and will probably set a code eventually. The ECM needs the TPS input;
Cooling Board? That one must've got past me. I can't wait to see the Right Front Turn Signal board....

I think since this car is an 86 and has a 350, the computer was thrown out of the loop a long time ago. But when I first put my Holley on, I had some heating issues also. Turns out there was a few small vacuum leaks and the car was running lean, like Vader said.
Also, check for hoses collapsing, and you should have a thermo in there also.
Cooling board, I wonder how long that will last.
