I have a quick distributer question?

I just replaced the plugs and wires on a friends 91 TPI and pulled the cap to replace the rotor. Other rotors I have worked with have popped right off, this one is being a bitch. Is there a trick to getting this darn thing off with out breaking something.

Thanks, Eric

Nope, just pull up....it should come off, not much you could break except your knuckles on the hood...

By the way..welcome to the boards...

Wack the nose of it with a screw driver handle.

It just sound like that rotor hasn't been replaced since '91?

Thanks guys. When you say wack the nose off it, then how did you get the rest of the rotor off? Yes this thing hasn't been replaced since 91

QS,

Welcome Aboard!

It sounds like the rust on the distributor shaft is holding the rotor in place. If you break the rotor while removing it, you can use pliers to remove (or break) the rest of the pieces stuck to the shaft. A little cleaning with a ScotchBrite pad will knock down most of the rust. ScotchBrites are non-metallic and won't disturb the reluctor and pickup. Just vacuum the debris away and install the replacement parts.
