I have a 85 z that when u first start the car, after it has been sitting all night it will start then if u dont hit the gas will stall right out.?? any ideas what might be wrong? Has been happeingin for a while now. After the car runs about for 5-10 min it runs and ideals normally again. I am lost, i have cleaned the intake and replaced the sparkplugs and such. still same thing happens whenver i go to start it no matter how hot or cold or what time it is? Well any idea's thnx

 

im not too good with carbs but it sounds like a choke problem

 

It might be a sticking injector leaking fuel into the motor and flooding it out.And when you first start the car up you have to burn the extra fuel off.

 

What kind of fuel system DO you have. We need to know.

 

O sry about that i am a moron. I have a 350 TPI. Thnx for the replys.

 

my 383 TPI does the same thing, starts, runs for bout 2 seconds and then stalls, and then U start it back up and it bogs for a quick second but then runs "normaly"... I will s ee if it still does it once I get the new injectors and everyhting in with the new LT1 intake.

Possibly the cold start control or cold start injector. It would also be a good idea to check/clean the TB and IAC, and check/set the TPS voltage.
