Need opinions on ZZ4 cam!
For those who have installed, or know someone who has, how did the ZZ4 cam work for you? Putting one in my 383 TBI w/ vortec heads engine I am building an was wanting some feedback. Gas mileage? Thanks.

For a 383 I'd look elsewhere for a bigger cam. On a 350 though, my old ZZ3/ZZ4 cam got me in the low 13s at over 108 mph with AFR 190s, so it couldn't be too bad of a cam.

This car is my daily driver, of course I want power or else I wouldn't be building a 383 but.....I need to maintain gas milage. I get approx 24-26 mpg now with my 150,000 miles LO3 that goes through about 2-3 quarts of oil a week (no joke) runs good though. I am finding very conflicting info on the ZZ4 cam specs (some say 110 LCL, some say 112 LCL) which puts a damper on my calcs for the compression ratio, which right now is estimated at 9.8:1 for the vortec heads/piston/cam ratio I am going to run on it; that should maintain my goal of not dropping below 19mpg on pump gas (may deck it but need to get definate specs on the cam). For those who are saying it is way to small or whatever, what do you suggest for pump gas power?
